If you appreciate a quality sneaker, this one is for you: courtesy of Kanye!
Typically, I preface this type of post with an outrageous decree of "wowee" or like... but this is beyond that. My honest opinion of the initial prospect of Kanye designing for LV was shock (in a good way) although I did think it a little random. The self proscribed "Louis Vuitton Don" @ a design internship with Louis Vuitton? It seemed like something out of one of his raps... but it came out very well.
The construction of these pieces is very clean and simplistic but still harkens to the Louis role as a status symbol and fashion game changer. Its use of the monotonal scheme as opposed to LV's typical multi-colored theming is refreshing and overall the shoe seems wearable in an array of venues. West keeps the icons that LV fans have always known injecting them with a sense of urban casual. I appreciate the fact that these pieces seem less indicative of a particular place of origin (i.e. U.S. or France) and in that way many can enjoy it.
The design is also so accessible to the wearer that they could either dress it up or down, given the environment. Overall, I think it is a great forray into fashion for Mr. West: although this PasTelle really has me interested as well. keep doing your thing 'Ye.
*p.s. who else could be responsible for this....... yup! Uncle Marc J. The Man Is a Living Icon!!!!
*p.s.s. in a war of sames... CREATIVITY WINS!

Michael Bevilacqua “Corrosions of Conformity” at Gering & Lopez

GERING & LOPEZ GALLERY is pleased to present Corrosions of Conformity, a solo exhibition of work by New York-based artist Michael Bevilacqua. Bevilacqua’s practice of recycling materials he has used or images he has seen is evident in the exhibition, as key motifs frequently resurface throughout his work. The same icon takes on new meaning in different settings, corroding the original message. His work is abstract, but routed firmly in experience.
This is Bevilacqua’s first solo exhibition
